Help! My window blinds are a mess!

I have very expensive honeycomb blinds that are a tragic, filthy mess. They are a very light color, although after all the NYC filth has gotten them to them, they are about 4 shades darker. Does anyone know of a remedy to help clean these? I'm afraid to take them down and wash them in soap in the tub, because I don't want to set the filth in deeper. Is there a special cleaner that I should use? I would appreciate any advice here.

Hi Livinlarge, I have the perfect solution for you, it's a service called Blindwash.com--they pull up to your building, take your window treatments down to their specially-equipped van, and return them a few hours later, sparkling. They will clean louvered and mini blinds, all sorts of honeycomb shades, pleated shades, solar shades and more. Blindwash.com  or 866-425-4637

I learned about Blindwash thanks to my good friend, David Fischer, whose unexpected recent passing saddened so many. David called me a few years back, asking if I knew anyone who could clean his 30-year-old metal blinds, which were blackened with NYC soot. I basically said, "David, c'mon. Get yourself some new blinds!" But David was not to be deterred, and he called back, gleefully, 2 weeks later. He'd found Blindwash, and they'd done a great job. I've been recommending them to clients ever since, saving thousands of dollars in replacement costs. I know David would be pleased to share his find with Brick readers.
