This could be the affordable lakefront country house of your dreams

We love to peruse aspirational, over-the-top Hamptons houses and seven-figure glass boxes as much as anyone, but sometimes we come back down to Earth and find a pretty property that suits a buyer whose feet are not firmly planted in the one percent.

This four-bedroom, four-bathroom house sits directly on a lake in Copake, New York, a decidedly not-trendy town in Columbia County that's a little over two hours from the city (up the Taconic, a road that is often traffic-free).

The asking price is $740,000 (the price of a Brooklyn condo) and with that you get incredible views and access to the lake.  Just take a look at some of those photos:

The house has three levels: The main floor has a large kitchen and a great room, plus a screened-in porch. Bedrooms are upstairs. There's a large stone fireplace, vaulted ceilings, and on the bottom floor, there's a family room (with another fireplace), a wine cellar, and even a sauna.

This is also a year-round house, with mountains for skiing nearby, and a lake that's the biggest draw during summer. The house is also close to Great Barrington and Hudson, both cute towns worth exploring when you need a break from the lake.

Can you tell that we're sold?
