StreetEasy’s Most Wanted: The ever-popular family-sized UWS apartments

Good news for growing families: This week’s StreetEasy’s Most Wanted (the 10 sales listings StreetEasyusers saved more often than any others this week) is flush with two-bedroom apartments, and we’re focusing in on the neighborhood-y Upper West Side.

On West End Avenue between West 79th and 80th Streets, a $1.4m two-bedroom, two-bathroom prewar co-op (pictured) features a windowed kitchen and an in-unit washer/dryer. The living room with decorative fireplace faces east, and the master bedroom has an en-suite bath. The building itself is equipped for kids with a children’s playroom. An assessment of $120/month is in place.

A little further up, a $1m 2.5-bedroom, one-and-a-half-bath condo on 97th between West End Avenue and Riverside Drive has been renovated recently. In terms of light, there’s southern exposure for natural sunlight, as well as chandelier lighting throughout. The maid’s room with a W/D can also serve as a bedroom for one of the kids. The kitchen features new stainless steel appliances and a five-burner gas stove. The windowed baths have been fully renovated. The building has a roof deck and live-in super (no doorman) and it’s near Riverside Park for afternoon and weekend playtime.

Dwon on Broadway between W. 76th and W. 77th Street is a $949k two-bedroom, two-bathroom co-op featuring a renovated, open kitchen, as well as renovated baths. The split bedroom layout allows for privacy from the kids. There’s a new lobby, a doorman and a live-in super. Plus, shopping’s made easy with a Fairway and Citarella around the corner (not to mention an Equinox gym and express transportation). Possible downside: The curtains are drawn in all of the photos, suggesting that although this apartment is on 6th floor, it may be view-compromised.

If none of these are in your price range or you’re not interested in the UWS, consider a junior-4 that has been converted into a two-bedroom, one-bath on the Upper East Side for $725k. Located in the Kenilworth, a postwar co-op on East 80th between Lexington and Third, the building allows co-purchasers, guarantors and pied-a-terres. There’s also a 24-hour doorman and a planted and furnished roof deck. The apartment is move-in ready and offers two alcoves. One is currently being used as a dining area, and the other has been converted into a bedroom/nursery. The marble bath has been renovated, and the renovated, windowed kitchen has granite counters, a glass tile backsplash and stainless steel appliances.
