If you’ve got a growing family and a mind of your own when it comes to setting up house, you’re not alone, because many New Yorkers have set their sights on homes with flexible layouts. This week’s edition of StreetEasy’s Most Wanted -- the 10 apartments for sale that StreetEasy users saved more often than any others this week -- features a number of convertible apartments.

The entire family (and even some tenants) can reside in this beautifully restored $849k six-bedroom, four-bathroom turn-of-the-century brownstone. You can keep the four-story townhouse as is (an owner’s duplex and basement plus two one-and-a-half-bedroom full-floor rentals) or convert the space. Located on Green Avenue between Marcy and Nostrand Avenues in Bedford-Stuyvesant, the home features new windows, a new kitchen and bathrooms and updated mechanicals. Original details dating back to the 1800s -- double crown moldings, herringbone hardwood floors and decorative mantles -- have all been restored. Plus, there's a backyard for the kids to get some fresh air, and you'll feel pretty relaxed when it comes to paying your $181/month property taxes.

On 12th Street between Prospect Park West and Eighth Avenue in Park Slope, a three-bedroom, one-and-a-half-bath condo on the market for $899k can serve as either a three- or two-bedroom unit. The fully renovated parlor level floor-thru duplex has a family room with an office and Murphy bed, as well as a decked backyard. There’s an in-unit W/D and common charges are fairly low at $344 (monthly taxes $331).

Over on the Upper West Side, on Riverside and 109th Street is a $925k convertible two-bedroom, two-bath co-op with a maid’s room/office that can stretch this place to a three-bedroom. The windowed kitchen is of the somewhat rare eat-in variety, and washers and dryers are permitted to make laundry day easier. It’s close to Riverside Park and Columbia University. But the apartment may need some work.
